Twister
Twister is a public artpiece, a moving sculpture permanently installed in 2009 in Västra Stenhagen's Education and Culture Centre in Uppsala, Sweden.
Twister was installed in the light yards large entrance room and consists of a 25m long, horizontally placed shaft, 6 m up from the floor. It has 24, 160cm circular, transparent discs in clear primary colors that are positioned and twisted in relation to each other like a large screw. The entire structure rotates slowly and a large endless wave of colors and light reflections moves through the light yard. From a distance, the visual impression is that the roundels "flow together" like a large body in motion, which gives the work a powerful visual energy in the room through its size, scope, color and movement.
Materials: foiled twinwall plastic, steel, aluminium, mechanics, electronics. Length: 25m. Largest rotation diameter: 280cm, color disc diameter: 160cm.
