In the Light
At Galleri Mejan in Stockholm in 1993 my first installation was made that I consciously used light to create spatiality. It was also light's own symbolic value that was used in relation to a dazzled face. The installation had both an abstract and a representational plane that touched on the sublime. The horizontal light element as the only light source was placed in relation to the square polished stainless steel surface of the floor, to give the illusion of a higher vertical spatiality. A method used in the Baroque in the 17th century. Here in combination with a minimalistic expression.
Dimensions, light box: 80X360 cm. Stainless bright annealed steel on floor surface: 400X400 cm
